This photo was taken in Haiti when I was 21. According to my recollection I had yet to officially “meet” Corey. (I just knew him as the lighting guy with the crazy hair at Salt Company.) But he would say we met as sophomores when a mutual friend introduced us. Too bad I don’t remember that. Maybe we’d have gotten married a couple years earlier 😉
Regardless of when we met, we were married about a year after that trip, and now many years and three children later we are getting ready to head to Haiti together! There are few things in life that I have looked forward to more. And I can say with absolute certainty that God is all over this trip. I can see how so many things have come together to make this work, and it makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
While Corey is doing some construction work (I think he’ll be roofing a house), I will be teaching sewing classes with two women whom I’ve never met. I still smile at the thought of teaching sewing. I wonder if they’d take back the invitation if I told them I sewed clear through my finger a couple years ago. I was literally attached to my sewing machine. 🙂
In addition to construction and sewing classes, we’ll get to attend a traditional Haitian church service, meet our sponsor boys (YAY!!!!), hand out dresses and I even get to interview some families with sponsored children. How cool is that?!?
Can’t wait to tell you what God does on this trip!
(I’ll post a final dress/shorts tally soon.)
